A couple of times when I was swappping round the CPUs and reseating the RAM I got light 1, 2 and 4 blinking green.Īccording to the manual - the first combination is a possible expansion card failure (I only have one card, the graphics card, and have reseated this and in any case the PC boot s fione with only one processor). When attempting to boot the 1 and 2 lights blink green. As far as I can tell with this motherboard there is no VRM that needs to be installed to enable the second processor. However when both sockets are occupied with the processors the system will not boot even as far as the dell BIOS screen. When either processor is inserted into the first CPU socket the system will boot normally. I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version, A08 I have bought another heatsink (JD210) and two matched X5355 processors (at the bottom of this post is the output of Intel CPUID with one of the processors installed). My 490 was supplied with a single 5130 and a single heatsink. I saw on this post - that the Dell Precision 490 is upgradable to the X5355.
